Decembers

good morning. Whattup y’all

I found that I no longer sketch as much as I used to. At least not for the sake of sketching. And I don’t blog like I used to. So, I think I’ll try something new today. A sketch of the day theme. Whether it’s warming up in the morning or doodling during lunch/phone calls, I’ll try to post something every day. Wish me luck.
Here’s today’s

also, today I posted a new Teen Heaven comic strip. It’s something to tide you over until I have enough pages of the full length story to show.

http://blog.myspace.com/teenheaven

put in a friend request and leave comments while you’re there.

Speaking of the Teen Heaven graphic novel, I should give a status report. The intro to the book is close to being done, and the first chapter should be good to go come spring. I started the whole book over again about a month and a half ago, and have been working on it everyday since. I’m satisfied with the results, and think this is the way it was supposed to look and read from the beginning. I hope you’ll feel the same…
Until then, the only sneak peek you’ll get is the image from a few posts back.

Hope everyone’s having a good week, winter’s here. ugh.

One more thing- Check out/subscribe to dj U-Tern’s One Day Later podcasts. They’re golden.

Yoes

hey, all. Welcome to the new josegaribaldi.com. Or Jose’s Internet House Party 2.0.

I finally figured out what to do with this domain name. The original site had not been updated in years, I went and started a new illustration site, began posting most of my work on myspace and blogs, and pretty much let everything get out of control. I’ve been keeping really busy since then, yet have been neglecting to post these images and updates.

I’m hoping I can get it straight this time around. I’m treating this domain as a hub. Links will be posted to the various sites I have set up. I’ll blog with news and updates. Live art (if and when I do such events), djing (ditto), Gallery shows, comics work and release dates for published work.

Sorry if I may be a little incoherent. I’m a little tired, slightly sick and very hungry.

And pardon the construction dust. I’m still trying to get a grip on this wordpress thing in between gigs.

I’ll roll out updates soon.

In other news, I’ve completed to articles for Mad magazine, on stands soon. Obviously I’ve been working on a grip of Kunoichi stuff, and I restarted the Teen Heaven graphic novel. I’m I a douche for being in love with these new pages I’ve done?

eh, maybe.

In the meantime, check the links to the right. Friend me on myspace, and on facebook.

Peace!
Jose

oh yeah, and I will (one day) upload the old version of the site, and I will archive the myspace blogs.

I.H.P. no.108- Filth Flarn Filth

Well, I was hoping to post this last friday, but as I was nearly done typing
out this elaborate, epic blog, my page refreshed and I lost everything. I should’ve
known better. Anyway, I’ll try to do a better job of posting this on
blogger or livejournal as well as on myspace. A lot of people complain
that I post on myspace…
hmm… It’s been a while since I last posted. Frankly, the more time passes
(between blogs)the less I feel like posting. Shit, I think the last time
was before summer kicked off.
I’d write about my summer, but there was far too much going on.
From the gazillion freelance projects I took on, to my California trip,
Uberjam, Wizard World and after party.. and so on. At this point I
really can’t think of everything that happened…I do have a bunch of new artwork. Most of what I’ve been working
on you will probably won’t see any time soon. But It’ll be worth the wait.

I’ve noticed the blog has been getting quite a few hits although
the updates have been lacking. Awresome!

I’ve been feeling a little burnt again. I’m not
salty. Just a little tired. Honestly,
I’m really excited about what I’ve been working
on. Next year is what’s up.

Trying not to push it too much, but I gotta make up for
the meager output of the last few years.
So, on to the art.
A little theme music, please?

I’ll start with some commissions done at Wizard World.
I was set up with Mike Huddleston, Mike Bianco, and
Jim Mahfood. My crew is better than yours.

The afterparties we held this year (Friday at Darkroom,
Saturday at The Black Beetle) were off the chain. This
thing gets bigger every year. Thanks to everybody who came
through to kick off the dance party.

Don’t want to get into it just yet, but I just wanted to
show off designs from a couple original
concepts I’m working on…

Davey Wurst and Afro-Brites
I’ll keep you posted as news develops
(plus a few additional weeks/months/years)
AAAnd lastly, I’m sure you all remember

…Teen Heaven?
The first chapter will be done soon (I swear!)
Rather than putting out a 168 page black and white graphic novel,
I will be serializing it (about quarterly) over the next couple years.
It will be in full color. And as it stands, free.
Online. Unless somebody offers a deal I can’t refuse.
I’m dying to get this story done and out. I jut couldn’t deal with rushing
this out just to meet a deadline (and for little to no cash)
When I started working on it in 04, I found myself having to cut

much of the story in order to meet the deadline/page count.
I’ve had more ideas since then, so a limitless page count is exactly
what I need at this point….
MYSPACE EXCLUSIVE!!!!!!

I’ll keep you in the know. Cuz I love you.

That was a helluva night.

The day before I left for NY, I was called by Mad mag to provide the art
for a two page article called ” Mad’s Teacher Translation Guide”. It’s
all done (was up past 5:30 am last night finishing it) and I’ll post the
issue and date as soon as I know.
Since I haven’t posted much art lately, I figured I’d post sketches from
the last Mad article I did, from the Feb. 07 issue.

If you want to see the final art, cop that ish from your local bookstore…

Wednesday Night Trimm at Danny’s is always a good time.

Thanks to Mike  for the board…

The second piece of the night. I painted til the end…

Deetells….

I’ll most likely edit this post with an update once I get more photos.
It’s strange looking at these live art paintings under normal light.
Most spots are dark with colored lights, so it alters the colors you
work with.

Don’t have any more Live art shows booked until late December,
though I’m sure one or two will come up between now and then. I’ll
keep you posted.
plus you could always check my profile for dates, etc..

In other news, www.40ozcomics.com , Jim Mahfood’s website, has
finally been updated. I know Jim’s been working on getting this up
since last year, and after a few setbacks it’s good to go. I did the
coloring for all his webpage images (and I colored a few illustrations
here and there). Check it out, leave Jim some love and let me know
what you think! And be sure to give props to Jen for her web
finesse!

“It’s been a long time” No. 3,000 : New Characters and Art- Edited

Hooooo! Over two months since the last update!
I’ve had a lot going on lately, sadly not as productive as I’d like to be.
Been swimming through these clouds over my head, I wonder
if it’s the weather shifts. I keep starting new scam comics, end
up trashing them before I could finish.
So, what’s the haps?

I have a new website:
www.littlebrownheart.com

I’ve been featured on www.drawn.ca
(thanks, guys! You blew my hit counter up and I couldn’t be
happier about it)

Bunch of shit is brewing in my secret skull. A couple short stories
by year’s and an original Jose G comic series, hopefully early
07. Hopefully.

Got three pages in an upcoming issue of Mad magazine. Don’t
know which one, though…

Here’s a bunch of new, original character designs.
They’re all part of the Little Brown Heart takeover.
